My Story

Hi, I'm Toma, curator of boho and ethnic treasures, and the entrepreneur behind 1000 Welcomes!
So let me tell you a bit how I got here. I was born and raised in a small town in Lithuania, therefore I was very eager to explore the world outside, immerse myself into the diversity of cultures and arts. Not long after, while pursuing bachelor degrees in Vilnius, and later on in Malaysia, I had a chance to feed my hunger by traveling many countries around the globe, and one of them was Morocco.
The first time I came to Morocco in 2013, the romance flamed up immediately, it was love at the first sight. I was fascinated with breathtaking landscapes and colourful streets, rich culture, hospitable people and mesmerising arts and crafts. Arts and crafts… The day I was introduced to Moroccan rugs I was hypnotised, amazed by how they're made – with precise hands, hard work, patience and love. I saw spirit, tradition and the whole history behind it. Very naturally a thought popped up in my head, "One day I will come back and get them all!". To my own surprise, 5 years later, I did go back and purchased my first precious rugs.
1000 Welcomes, my nomadic bohemian space, was born genuinely, from my love to exploration and fondness for authentic products. So far I am a one-woman show, I frequently travel to Morocco, look for cooperatives and pick all products by myself or with a help of locals. Every item is a unique piece of art with its own story, bringing along its soul and bohemian spirit into your house. Part of my dream is to connect small craft entrepreneurs around the world and support fair trade by helping talented producers in developing countries to get respectable earnings for their extraordinary products.
Thank you for stopping by, I hope you will find something that truly melts your heart!
